An Aussie mum was shocked to discover that the lottery ticket she was given for Christmas had turned her into an overnight millionaire.
The Hobart woman, who has never bought a lottery ticket in her life, said she was in complete disbelief when she saw the prize of $1,061,316.47 come up.
“I am feeling a bit numb,” she told TattsLotto this morning.
“I actually never buy TattsLotto tickets. I received this one as a gift for Christmas from my family.”
The woman said she didn’t even know how to check the ticket and had to get her husband to do it for her.
“God, it was such a shock when I saw the prize come up. I couldn’t believe it,” she said.
“I’ve been very emotional ever since I found out about the win.
“I just never thought I’d be in this position. This is life-changing for me. I am so grateful.”
The Hobart mum, who wishes to remain anonymous, said after what has been a terrible year, the winning ticket was a great way to end it.
“I am certainly going to have a great 2021 now,” she said.

When asked how she intended to enjoy her million-dollar windfall, the overwhelmed woman said she’d been busy planning.
“I want to share some with my family, especially since they gave me the ticket,” she said.
“My kids will each get a decent sum so they can put some towards getting a home each.
“Hopefully, the rest I can use to retire! It certainly changes a lot for me.”
Her family had bought the ticket at Glenorchy Central Newsagency, Glenorchy where owner Shirleen Wickham said she was ecstatic for her Boxing Day winner.
“We are all thrilled that we have helped change someone’s life. What better Christmas present could you get than $1 million?” she said.
“We have been sharing the news with all our customers that we sold the winning ticket. It has been really great to see how excited everyone has been.

“It has been an extremely challenging year for many people and it has been great to have something so positive to end the year.
Ms Wickham said the newsagent has been very lucky, having sold a $100,000 scratchie ticket and two substantial division one prizes in Super 66, and a number of division two prizes.
“This is the first division one Tattslotto prize since I took over the business, so it is very special for me,” she said.
The Hobart woman’s winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 4115 on December 26 were 21, 2, 32, 30, 11 and 5, while the supplementary numbers were 25 and 42.
Across Australia, there were six division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4115 – three from Victoria, two from Western Australia and one from Tasmania.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 205.
